Project focus

The challenge

Many urban challenges are interconnected but still planned separately. URB-NEX explores how green infrastructure, walking and cycling, biodiversity and heat adaptation can reinforce one another — making limited urban space work better for both people and nature.

What the project does

The project combines spatial research on active mobility, thermal comfort and ecological connectivity with participatory mapping and co-creation. Nacka, Terrassa and Angers are case-study cities, generating comparative knowledge and practical approaches that can be transferred across Europe.

Partners & context

Working together

Coordinated by the University of Southern Denmark, URB-NEX brings together universities, public research, civic participation expertise and three case cities across Denmark, Sweden, France and Spain.

The project will develop a planning framework, practical toolkits and policy recommendations for more integrated green and social infrastructure.
