We are pleased to announce that ORBIFY 2.0 has been selected for funding through the Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak programme.
As Lead Partner, BJØRK Innovation will work together with Råde kommune, OsloRegionen, and Fyrbodals Kommunalförbund over the next three years to support municipalities in accelerating the energy transition through better tools, stronger stakeholder dialogue, and more informed decision-making. The project will run from September 2026 to June 2029.
Turning Energy Ambitions into Action
Across the Nordic region, municipalities are facing increasing pressure to balance climate goals, energy security, local development, and public acceptance. While many communities have ambitious plans for renewable energy development, turning those ambitions into concrete decisions and projects remains a challenge.
ORBIFY 2.0 addresses this challenge by developing and testing practical methods and tools that help municipalities identify, evaluate, and communicate local renewable energy opportunities. Through pilot activities and close collaboration with municipalities and stakeholders, the project will create the ORBIFY Toolkit – a practical framework designed to support energy planning, stakeholder engagement, and strategic decision-making.
The project will begin with pilot activities in Råde municipality, with lessons learned informing tools and methods that can be transferred and applied across the wider region. A key objective is to strengthen local capacity for renewable energy development while improving transparency and dialogue around complex energy-related decisions.
A Strong Cross-Border Partnership
ORBIFY 2.0 brings together partners with complementary expertise in innovation, municipal development, regional cooperation, and energy transition.
The project is led by BJØRK Innovation in collaboration with:
- Råde kommune
- OsloRegionen
- Fyrbodals Kommunalförbund
Together, the partnership will develop, test, and refine approaches that can help municipalities navigate the opportunities and challenges of the energy transition while creating long-term value for local communities.
Looking Ahead
We would like to thank our partners for their collaboration throughout the development of the project and application process. We also extend our gratitude to Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak for believing in the project and providing the opportunity to bring ORBIFY 2.0 to life.
We look forward to working together over the coming years and turning the ideas behind ORBIFY into practical solutions that support municipalities across the region.
